Day 6…..Let’s Stretchhhhh and jump

Celebrate Service Week - phew, we have been eating and drinking……(the common thing that binds multi cultural Malaysia)….let’s see Monday’s launch we had Malay cakes and sweetened ‘teh tarik’….Tuesday, together with our AGM Charles, we enjoyed delicious Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, BBQ fish with Sambal sauce, spicy Lamb Shawarma roll to name a few…..Fruit salads on Wednesday, Murtabak on Thursday….

Gosh no wonder a few of us found we have put on a few extra weight this week…….Ivan and Ahmad rallied the Admin team this morning for an early morning stretch….no mean feat on a Saturday morning – a choice of sleep or stretch!!

It started yesterday....here's Caann with her skiing moves, cheered on by Lydia, Peggy and Yan...what is Wani doing on a bike?

They jumped...... this morning

.....and they ran around in circles.......

oh.....no wonder......look it's Ivan and Ahmad leading them. Ahmad is that the eagle stretch? Watch out Jane Fonda, Ahmad is coming up with a new exercise regime, guaranteed to keep you looking young.

In between the stretching and jumping, we found a new recruit to build our talent pipeline...our future hero.

It has been a fun, fun, fun week for all… ….notice board plastered with pictures of happy faces…..in between supporting our guests in our hotel, we gave our all as we celebrate and thank our internal everyday heroes…...

Each day of the week was dedicated to a Winning Way…Monday’s Do the right thing – when we launched Celebrate Service Week with our owners; Tuesday’s Show we care - Management cooked, served and ate with our people; Wednesday’s Aim Higher – apart from our planned activities, we were inspired to see how our 330,000 colleagues celebrate service; Thursday’s Celebrate difference – it does not matter our geographical region we all have the same understanding of how to celebrate; Friday’s Work better together – participation of our people, the blogs, celebration stories, facebook links says it all. Can't wait for 2011!! And here, more faces of our everyday heroes....Thank you, Terima kasih, Xie Xie..

Here's looking at you, kid!

Boys, this is how you stretch.....

Hurry up lah, cannot hold my smile anymore, I got to send this story to the press.

Security Officer Mohd Rashidi stopped an attempted robbery one early morning ......showing the all clear sign.

Hello, Mr. Tan. I will get back to you in half an hour....I am tied up at a very important event!

Do I get an audition to be in a Bollywood movie?

I am ensuring our F&B Financial Returns quadrant will be above target

Peace and love to you, too

Movie Day Video

Short and sweet this time around!

Day 5 : Movie awaits...

Hello everyone, glad that you are all still here. This is the 5th day of the “Celebrate Service Week” and our “Fun bags” are still half full…….murtabak with dhall curry for breakfast – truly the Malaysian breakfast for champions but the canteen was empty……I know why – yesterday was payday!!! :-) Their loss, my gain, as I had 2 great helpings…..

The fun continues throughout the day with ‘Karate Kid’ and ‘The A Team’ playing at our very own 40-seats HI Glenmarie Cineplex complete with pop corns and softdrinks. The chefs went in for a couple of hours to escape the heat of the kitchen, the accounting team decided to unwind a little before month-end closing…….(hey it’s not fair, sshh.... I heard my GM was invited to watch SALT at a wide screen Cineplex).

That's all for now, folks. We'll see you tomorrow.

Stop counting the popcorn, Jeffery!!

Moment of excitement.....mesmerized

Celebrate Difference with a Video!

As usual, we have videos for you!

See our Housekeeping team of different races share a simple meal of nasi lemak together!

Here's how the Rojak Buah went down!

You would think that since Finance people deal with money everyday, it would not excite them. But they were most overjoyed when receiving their pay today together with a thank you certificate! See then wave and dance!

Day 4 : THANK YOU......

The Housekeeping team enjoyed a hearty Malaysian breakfast of “Nasi Lemak” early this morning with their Deputy Housekeeper, Lee Kel Vy and their Laundry Manager, Lim Chee Keong. They, too, took this opportunity with their team to celebrate the results for the top two scoring for I-Clean who were Iqbal and Imam.

Day 3: Happy Viewing...

Here's our video collage!

DAY 3 : Let's Have Ice Kacang... Games and Lucky Draw

Other than the food prepared by our Chef for the employees, we have a lovely dessert called Ice Kacang. Nothing beats the icy cold dessert that soothes the throat in a hot and humid country like Malaysia... Plus, everyone enjoys the sweet tasting of shaved ice with numerous toppings such as red beans, creamy sweet corn, palm nuts with a splash of gula melaka, rose syrup and coconut milk poured over it.

Yeah! I'm the winner

Doing good.. Rosmin!

Success story....

Aim Higher...

Early this morning on the 3rd day of Celebrate Service Week, Cheng Mee Chan, a new colleague at In Room Dining, was seen earnestly reading the Winning Ways posters displayed at the staff walkway and jotted down what she had read into her little note pad. When she was asked by the Assistant HR Manager, Siti Noor Azwani what she was doing, laced with confidence, Cheng answered, “I was reading what Aim Higher means. To me, it means I must always challenge myself to improve. My supervisor, Ku Aziz will ask me to give an example later on during our briefing and I must be able to participate fully”.

Cheng and Aziz were each rewarded a Winning Way voucher for displaying the Right Behaviour!

Show We Care...

A year ago, if you had passed by the Chinese restaurant at the golf club next to the hotel, you would have noticed a waiter pacing inside the quiet outlet, beaming and inviting you to come in. He was just bursting with enthusiasm and it was only right to transfer him to the Banquet Department as a waiter.

A month into his new role, Rhuhaedy Buang, was assigned the important task of personal butler to the CEO of a large corporate company from India. The CEO was having a meeting with his senior executives at the hotel.

The CEO who was an avid golfer, wanted to go to the driving range the next day after his meeting. Rhuhaedy made the necessary arrangements with the Hotel’s concierge. At 7am the next day, after loading the CEO’s golfing gear on the buggy, off they went together. When they reached the range, they found out it was closed, imagine the disappointment!! They had been misinformed on the opening hours – it so happened that on that particular day, the range was to open only at noon.

The CEO was visibly upset but Rhuhaedy was determined. He calmed the CEO, asked him for 15 minutes to put things right, then he started running all over the driving range collecting golf balls left behind from the previous night. He managed to collect 200 balls, just so, that the CEO could practice his swing!!

Rhuhaedy’s 'Show We Care' attitude and enthusiasm to aim higher makes him a favourite among guests he meets everyday. It is not unusual to see his name in the banquet comment cards, commenting him on outstanding performance in taking care of events. He has an eye for detail, he thinks of how he can further “WOW” guests in the simplest of way. Not surprisingly, his excellent service attitude won him the Employee Of The Year recently.

WAY TO GO GUYS, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

The day had finally arrived when the HODs took the responsibility to cook for all the employees... a task which was by no means a small.

We were ready to go 1145 , a little behind schedule but with a great product, hmmn the aroma was all around.

It was great to see the owners join us, there was Carol , GM HR of DRB with Aina in tow also joining us was Zanaria from the CFOs office, they surely did ..love the food as they placed orders for the Tikkas and Biryani for dinner too , looks like no one told them this was fattening food...you will understand once you see the pics below.
